The Circle

Protect · Restore · Use · Share · Sustain

This is not something new. It is a way of seeing the world, built and lived over a lifetime. Not a brand, not a business idea.

What The Circle is

The Circle is not exclusive. It is intentionally inclusive. It brings together people, places, and experiences that align in how we see life, how we live, how we treat others, and how we interact with the world around us.

Core philosophy

We should all live our best lives possible, but do it in a way that does not destroy what is around us. The goal is the opposite. To preserve it, protect it, and elevate it. To leave places better than we found them. To leave people better than we found them.

Ownership vs Stewardship

Nothing is owned. Everything is held.

I don't really believe in ownership. I believe in stewardship. I have a home on a beautiful creek, but I don't own that creek. I don't really even own the home. I am the current steward of that piece of bliss.

What it looks like in practice

No. 01

San Pedro Creek

A beautiful creek flows through the back of the property. Most people know it because it is polluted and because it affects the water quality at Linda Mar. There is another side to it. This is a place for awareness, education, and real involvement. Stewardship in action.

No. 02

The C-17

A boat in Santa Cruz Harbor. A place to stay, reset, surf, and enjoy life. Time with family, time with friends, things slowed down. Not luxury for show, something real, something simple.

No. 03

Casa Blanca Pacifica

The home built over the past few years, now ready to share. Not opened up to everyone, shared within the circle with people who are connected, aligned, or referred.

No. 04

The Quiver

A curated collection of surfboards built over time, different shapes and styles for different conditions. Guests within the circle view the full quiver in advance and select a limited number of boards for their stay. Not a rental system, a shared experience based on trust.

No. 05

Community Equipment

Generators, PA systems, microphones, and speakers. Used not just personally but to support local events, gatherings, and community needs. Contributing to the environment and the people around it, not just taking from it.

Philosophical foundation

A stewardship pattern that shows up across cultures.

Indigenous North America

Seven Generations

Decisions considered seven generations forward. Long-term thinking beyond a single lifespan.

Japan

Wabi-sabi and Kintsugi

Beauty in impermanence. Broken pottery repaired with gold. Restore rather than replace.

Europe

The Commons

Shared land held and cared for collectively. Shared responsibility.

India

Ahimsa

The principle of non-harm. Avoid degrading the systems around you.

Scandinavia

Friluftsliv

Open-air living. Daily connection to nature as a way of life.

The Circle recognizes these as recurring human patterns.

Restoration in practice

The creek, as a case study.

If proper conditions are created, original systems recover naturally. What that looks like on San Pedro Creek:

  • ·Invasive species removed along the banks.
  • ·Native species returning, season by season.
  • ·Ongoing water quality monitoring.
  • ·Community involvement, hands on the land.

Proof that restoration works.

Modern context

Not forgetting the land, even in a digital world.

The world is shifting toward AI, automation, and digital systems. The risks are real: loss of awareness of natural systems, loss of responsibility, short-term thinking, physical disconnection. AI allows action without understanding, competence without grounding.

Technology is not the enemy. It has to be balanced with physical reality. The Circle exists to reconnect people to the land, to embed real-world interaction, maintenance, and stewardship into daily life.

In closing

A network of people, places, and assets, built around restoring, using, and preserving what matters.

When things are crazy, you really need to take care of your own.
